Jerash is one of the largest and best-preserved Roman provincial cities anywhere, so expect a genuine amount of walking to see the Oval Plaza, Cardo Maximus (the colonnaded main street), Temple of Artemis, and the South Theatre — realistically a couple of kilometers on mostly flat, ancient stone paving. It's not strenuous in the way a hike would be, but it is a real walking tour rather than a quick photo stop, so comfortable shoes matter more here than at some of our shorter tours.

Yes — Ajloun Castle is a genuinely impressive 12th-century Islamic fortress built specifically to counter the Crusaders, and it sits on a hilltop with panoramic views over the surrounding valleys that are worth the drive alone. It's a shorter visit than Jerash, generally 30-45 minutes, so it doesn't extend the day dramatically, but it gives you a completely different kind of history — military and medieval rather than classical Roman — in the same trip, which most guests find adds real contrast rather than feeling repetitive.

Both sites are just 1-2 hours from Amman, making this one of our most flexible half-day tours in terms of timing — a late morning start still leaves plenty of daylight for both stops without feeling rushed.
