King's Highway Private Tour

It's one of the oldest continuously used trade routes in the world, running from Amman south to Aqaba, mentioned as far back as the Book of Numbers in the Bible and used by traders, pilgrims, and armies for thousands of years. Rather than taking the modern desert highway, this tour follows the historic route itself through Jordan's most dramatic scenery, stopping at sites that have anchored the road for centuries. It's less about speed and more about experiencing Jordan's geography and history the way travelers have for millennia, just in an air-conditioned private vehicle instead of on foot or camelback.

This tour includes the Wadi Mujib viewpoint — often called Jordan's Grand Canyon — where you get a genuinely dramatic overlook of the gorge without needing to commit to the water-based canyon trek that Wadi Mujib is also known for. If you specifically want to do the wet hike through the canyon itself (wading and swimming through the gorge), that's a separate, seasonal activity requiring its own booking and gear, and we're happy to arrange it as an add-on if your schedule and the season allow, but it's not part of the standard King's Highway route.

Typically an hour to 90 minutes, enough to properly explore the Crusader-era fortress's tunnels, towers, and the small museum inside, which is generally sufficient for most visitors unless you're a serious castle enthusiast. Karak is one of the largest Crusader castles in the region, so there's genuinely a lot to see even in that window — dark stone corridors, defensive galleries, and views over the surrounding town. If you want longer here specifically, tell us when booking and we can extend it by trimming time elsewhere on the route.

The standard version returns to Amman the same day, making it a long but complete day trip covering Mount Nebo, Madaba, Wadi Mujib, and Karak Castle along the historic route. If you're actually traveling south to Aqaba or Petra rather than looping back, we can run this as a one-way transfer instead, stopping at all the same sites along the way and dropping you at your final destination rather than driving you back to Amman — just specify this when booking since it changes the pricing and logistics.
