An eco-lodge and former copper-mining valley at the bottom of the Dana Reserve, run entirely without a connected power grid — solar power and candlelight only, which is the whole point. Copper has been mined here since the Bronze Age; you can still see ancient mine shafts and slag heaps on short walks from the lodge. It's one of the only officially recognised Dark Sky places in the Middle East, so the stargazing rivals Wadi Rum.
Feynan is reached either by the multi-hour hike down from Dana village, or by a roughly 4-hour drive from Amman via Qadisiya, with the final stretch on a rough track — the lodge arranges 4x4 transfers from the nearest drivable point since it's intentionally hard to reach by regular car.
October to April — the valley floor is genuinely hot in summer (it's a low-elevation desert valley), and the eco-lodge experience (sitting outside at night, candlelight) is much better in cooler months anyway.
This isn't a stop you tack onto a day tour — it only works as an overnight, and needs to be booked through the lodge in advance since capacity is limited and transfers need arranging. Bring a real flashlight; "solar-powered and candlelit" is not a metaphor.
