The biblical site where Moses is said to have viewed the Promised Land before his death, and traditionally held to be his burial place. A Byzantine memorial church built on the summit contains some of the oldest mosaics in Jordan, and on a clear day the viewpoint looks out across the Jordan Valley to Jericho, the Dead Sea, and — genuinely, on the clearest days — the hills of Jerusalem.
Mount Nebo is about 45 minutes from Amman (45 km) and around 15 minutes from Madaba — the two are almost always visited back-to-back on the same trip.
Clear winter days actually give the best long-distance visibility toward Jerusalem, though haze is common in summer. Either way it's a short, easy stop, so timing is more about picking a clear day than a particular season.
The view is highly dependent on haze — don't expect to see Jerusalem every visit, it genuinely depends on air clarity that day. The site itself is small; budget under an hour unless you want to linger at the viewpoint.
